Mobile Tech Coming In 2019. In the next 12 months we expect new innovations. We are coming to the end of notches. Let's look at what to expect in 2019.

Foldable Phones, 5G, And All The Best

2018 was an awesome year for smartphones. We got to see luxurious designs in mobile phones, notches and generally just excellent phones. The photography aspect in most devices was on point. Artificial intelligence was highly utilized in some devices.

In the next 12 months we expect new innovations. We are coming to the end of notches. Let's look at what to expect in 2019.

HOLE-PUNCH DISPLAYS

There is no doubt that notches will soon be replaced by punchhole displays. In 2018 we saw pop up camera designs in phones such as Vivo Nex S and in Oppo Find X. But that technology wasn't that appealing.

When Huawei Nova 4 was launched we saw that it had replaced its notch with a punchhole which houses the camera. Punchhole is the next trend in most smartphones. Don't be surprised if you see a hole in most devices this year. The hole is just small located on the top side of the screen.

MORE MEGAPIXELS AND LENSES

As i always say, the camera is what separates a good phone from a bad one. Most hardware in most phones is almost the same. There is no major differences. Huawei P20 Pro had one of the best cameras of 2018.

In 2019 we are expecting much more from smartphone manufacturers. It has been announced that Xiaomi is planning to launch a phone with a 48 megapixel camera. Huawei Nova 4 has a 48 megapixel camera. Other manufacturers will try and follow the same trend. The race for the best smartphone camera in 2019 is on.

In 2019 we are expecting to see more lenses. LG V40 ThinQ had a whooping 5 lenses. This year i think we will see more lenses. This trend will continue for the rest of the year.

FASTER CHARGING

The battery technology has really improved. We have seen how some phones just take a few minutes to fully charge. We have witnessed wireless charging and much more. Devices such as Oppo, Huawei and OnePlus have offered one of the best charging speeds.

Qualcomm has said that it will be introducing a triple charge system. This system will offer up to 32W for the normal wired charging and up to 15W for wireless charging. This Triple charging system will really change the landscape in battery technology. The trend for better fast charging will go on for the rest of the year.

FACE UNLOCKING

This technology has been around for a couple of years but Apple changed the game with Face ID. Most manufacturers will try and improve on their face unlocking feature making it faster and easily reliable. This tech can be used for also making payments.

The fingerprint scanner has faced major competition from face unlocking feature and an in display fingerprint scanner. We saw the rise of in display fingerprint scanner last year. Its experience wasn't the best. Face unlock is the easiest way to unlock your phone. In 2019 more manufacturers will embrace face unlocking and doing away with fingerprint sensor.

5G SPEED FOR SOME

I'm not quite sure about how 5G will be in 2019. With 5G we are expecting to get amazing network speeds and we are sure to expect some phones that support 5G. The problem is that no many phones will have 5G. It will be a select few. This new technology won't easily take off. It will take some few years for it to be wide spread.

Those who will get 5G devices will enjoy blazing fast speeds. Their download speeds will be unimaginable. The new Snapdragon 855 will really improve a lot of things. The chip will power most phones of 2019.

FOLDABLE PHONES

Manufacturers such as Samsung, Oppo, Motorola, LG and Huawei are all working on foldable phones. The phones might be released in 2019 but that isn't a guarantee. We have already seen a foldable phone by the name Royole flexpai and I'm expecting more foldable smartphones.

2019 looks to be a really great year for smartphones.  Smartphone manufacturers will impress us with what they are cooking. Let's look forward to a bright year.
